The Cross Training Program is
a unique course that allows the candidate to obtain every possible
license in both fixed-wing & rotorcraft and still keep the
cost of training low by timing it so that the communalities between
the two types of courses are not repeated.
In the many years we've been
in the business we've received many resumes from fresh Flight
Instructor graduates of many schools around the United States.
Everyone of them had very good training, but we've never been
able to hire one, because our insurance company wouldn't let us
due to the low experience factor. Most CFI students will finish
their course with around 200 hours of total flight time. And (usually)
unless they get hired on by the same school and fly in the same
type of helicopter in which they trained (rare!), it will be very
difficult to get an insurance company to underwrite the new CFI.
Most schools already have CFIs who hold on to there jobs for dear
life because for helicopter pilots getting the experience is hard
(and employers want mostly turbine experienced pilots). Furthermore
the school will put up with almost anything to keep a good and
already approved instructor.
Helicopters represent only 5%
of the entire world aviation market, so there are many more jobs
for airplane pilots than there are for helicopter pilots. That's
why we devised our Cross-Training Program (CTP), which gives you
all the licenses you need in both airplane and helicopter (up
to CFII in both categories), including turbine transition and
turbine time building and a total of 305 hours of flight for just
a little more than what it would cost at any good school to become
a helicopter CFI alone.
